Freeze to Lead Tigers After Successful Stint at Liberty

Auburn, Ala. - November 29, 2022

Auburn University held a press conference on Tuesday, November 29th, at 10:00 am to officially introduce Hugh Freeze as its new head football coach. Freeze, who most recently served as the head coach at Liberty University, addressed reporters and discussed his vision for the Auburn football program.

Freeze, a four-time Associated Press High School Coach of the Year, has a proven track record of success at both the high school and collegiate levels. He led Liberty to four consecutive bowl appearances and two conference championships and was named the NCAA Division I FBS Independent Coach of the Year in 2022.

At Auburn, Freeze will be tasked with rebuilding a program that has struggled in recent years. The Tigers went 5-7 in 2022 and have not won an SEC Championship since 2013.

Freeze acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in his ability to restore Auburn football to its former glory. He also addressed the signing class of 2023 and his plans for the upcoming season.
